 Petalmania’s objective is always to produce the highest quality product possible, using  ONLY South African grown flowers, at South African prices. That translates into  products of the greatest beauty & variety, which are typically priced at 70% LESS than  US or European products.

To give a real example of the way PetalMania works:

Creating high quality, freeze dried petals is far more complex than you might imagine. They are nothing like the crinkly air dried petals which have either been dried in the sun AND, if you have bought them, will be the sweepings off a florist’s floor or taken from unsaleable/old flowers.

Our Freeze Dried Petals come from large, high quality heads, which have been allowed to open on the stem, so that the individual petals are larger, look magnificent & have a good feel. Each head is then “de-petaled” by hand, sorting “the best” from “the rest” so that we can offer you Table Petals which are nigh on perfect, & a “treadable” quality product, at considerably lower prices, as Aisle Petals. They are then carefully loaded onto trays in the freeze dryer & put through the the 2 to 3 week drying cycle - see How We Do It for more detail on how we freeze dry - & then re-sorted by hand afterwards.

Most growers do not sell the types of head we require; their products are driven by the the supermarkets’ requirements for long lasting, easily transportable “buds”, which are sold NOT according to the quality of the flower but according to the length of the stem! The longer it is, the more you pay.

We source our roses from growers such as Soleil Cut Roses in Pretoria, a part of Ludwig’s Roses, who produce the highest quality heads in the country – large & beautifully formed – which suit our - & your - purposes precisely!
